The 18-month Mark

Has it really been 7 whole months since this space has been updated? Tragic!

Gabby is now close to 19 months old. At last week's checkup, she got two shots: a flu shot (regular, not that untested H1N1 vaccine) and her Hepatitis A shot. She was full of piss and vinegar after the nurse gave the shots. If you see cut-eye! My girl was blue-vexed with the nurse. She also wouldn't let the doctor check her out. I had to hold her down on the examining table so he could check out her ears and nose. My child, le sigh.

Gabrielle now weighs in at 27 1/2 pounds (88th percentile), is 33 inches tall (91st percentile), and her head is off the charts. Developmentally, she is at the stage of a 2-year-old -- those blasted Gordon genes asserting themselves with more than a little Wilson mischief thrown in for good measure. She can climb like a monkey: while we were waiting on the doctor, she climbed up a stool that had wheels on the bottom that was on a smooth floor, and up onto the examining table that was about 4 feet off the floor.

The little angel is also moving toward speaking in complete sentences. When she tumbles from one of her climbing expeditions, if asked "Are you okay?" she will respond with, "I'm fine!" and continue on her way. Very smart, which means that the next long weekend will probably see an attempt at potty training, since she knows what is going on in the toilet, she may as well start using one!

Here are some recent photos:This one was taken in Trinidad at her first birthday party in February. She is smiling, but not too long afterward a combination of insane heat plus teething made for one unhappy baby!

This one was taken on Mother's Day, 2009.
